Before you start
REC is installed from the Microsoft Store, which also delivers the updates. The first time you open it, sign in with your account: email and password, or your corporate login if your company uses one. Then check what each kind of recording needs:
| What you are going to record | What must be ready |
|---|---|
| Complete process (all applications) | Nothing beyond the applications you have open (for SAP with the field ids, scripting enabled, as in the SAP GUI mode; for web pages with the selectors, the REC extension in the browser). |
| SAP GUI | SAP GUI for Windows with scripting enabled on the client (Options → Accessibility & Scripting) and on the server (sapgui/user_scripting = TRUE), and an open session. |
| Web application | Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome installed. The REC uses the browser already on the machine: nothing is downloaded. |
| Desktop application (Java and others) | Just the application open. No Java configuration is needed. |
| PDF export (optional) | Microsoft Word installed: the conversion uses the machine's own Word. |
Forgot your password? On the REC sign-in screen, ask for a 6-digit code by email to create a new one.
Important
REC needs an internet connection to sign in and to renew the license. Without a connection, it keeps working for a grace period.
